a5c7b9f00b Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler are three scientists at Columbia University in New York City. When their grant expires, the guys are fired and they go into businessa ghost extermination company called "Ghostbusters". Their first customer is orchestra cello player Dana Barrett, who was scared out of her apartment on the 22nd floor of a high rise apartment building on Central Park West. It seems that Dana's neighbor, Louis Tully, is also being affected by the strange happenings in the apartment building. Armed with proton guns, the Ghostbusters become wildly popular, and they are joined by Winston Zeddmore, who is looking for a job with good pay. Overzealous Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) agent Walter Peck thinks the Ghostbusters are frauds, and he has the Ghostbusters put in jail. Peck is forced to believe the Ghostbusters when New York City is put under siege by an ancient Sumerian God named Gozer the Gozerian, who is channeled through the apartment building that Dana and Louis live in, and the mayor has no choice but to let the Ghostbusters out of jail to face Gozer. Three former parapsychology professors set up shopa unique ghost removal service. Whwn I last saw this instant classic, I was hardly more than a child in kindergarten. I enjoyed the film back then, and I still enjoy the film eleven years later.

This film is about three wacko scientists who have nothing to do. So they decided to chase and capture the supernatural for profit. Their business does OK, but a dilemma arises. They have to save NYC from evil ghosts.

The acting is the film is just plain great. Bill Murray is one of the funniest guys from the 80's. He adds sarcastic humor to this film. The rest of the crew, I liked.

Everything works with this film. The plot and dialogue are fantastic with each other. The special effects are great even to today's standards. I must say how wonderful the music is. I liked the score and of course, the song by Ray Parker Jr.

Overall, this is a great film, a tad underrated. This is a great classic. I rate this film 9/10. One of the most popular films of the 1980s, Ghostbusters succeeded in capturing an audience and keeping a following well after the 1980s. The 1980s and this film seem to be tied together. It was a huge hit with a product range, a sequel, and a cartoon series – not to mention the catchy theme song: 'I ain't afraid of no ghosts.' Ghostbusters is a fun film. The story centers around a group of men who start a business 'busting' ghosts. It's all very fantasy and super-hero themed with the ghost busters saving the city from the dooms of the spook-world, but it does have an element of comedy. In fact, it almost does not take itself seriously. Even the villain puffy mashmallow man is comical.

The film is worth a watch, especially if you've seen it before and want to watch it again. I don't think it has lost any charm. It will always be a fun film, and it is easy to see why it had the following with its humor and superhero story. With his deadpan delivery and snide quips, Murray more than holds his own amid the myriad state-of-the-art special effects. When three parapsychologists—Doctors Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis)—are fired from their positions at New York's Columbia University, they decide to set up shop together and become "ghostbusters" dedicated to trapping ghosts and other nasty spirits. Unfortunately, they're mostly considered to be frauds, until an ancient Sumerian god, Gozer the Gozerian, takes up residence in the high-rise apartment of Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver), and it seems that only the Ghostbusters can save the Big Apple. The script for the motion picture Ghostbusters was written by co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, who also wrote the sequel Ghostbusters II (1989) (1989). The film has been twice been novelizedGhostbusters (1984) by Larry Milne and againGhostbusters: The Supernatural Spectacular (1985) by Richard Mueller (the movie's popularity also led to two animated television series, The Real Ghost Busters (1986) (later renamed Slimer! And the Real Ghostbusters (1988)) (1986-1991) and Extreme Ghostbusters (1997) (1997)wellnumerous computer and video games. A remake/parody, Ghostbusters (2016)—complete with new-character cameos of the original cast—was released in 2016. The Board of Regents decided to terminate their grant on the grounds that their theories were "the worst kind of popular tripe," their methods were "sloppy," their conclusions were "highly questionable," and they are all-around "poor scientists." Venkman in particular was accused of using his position with the Psychology Departmentsome kind of "dodge or hustle." The slime that was found in the library and other places that were haunted by ghosts is described"ectoplasmic residue," a substance that is supposed to exist on the etheric (or spiritual) plane and can remain behind in the wake of a spiritual, i.e., ghostly, manifestation. The story provides no further explanationto why it exists or how it seeps into the realm of the living. Perhaps it signifies amniotic fluid, in that spirits emulate birth when traversing the etheric plane.

It was sold by the jar in toy stores to children. Zuul the Gatekeeper, Gozer the Sumerian god of Destruction, and Vinz Clortho the Keymaster were all made up for the movie. However, following the release of Ghostbusters, fans made up a number of legacies, rituals and mythologies about them, none of which have any true history. The song is "Magic" by Mick Smiley. However, the answer to this question is frequently disputed by those complaining that the start of "Magic"heard on the soundtrack album sounds nothing like the track used in the film. This is because the film uses only the second half of the song, which sounds much different from the first half. Start playing the track at about 2:20 in to hear itit was in the film. Gozer gave the Ghostbusters a choice of the form Gozer will become"The Destroyer". If The Ghostbusters thought and had chosen for example: The Joker from Batman, Gozer would reappear in that form to destroy them. The Ghostbusters had to clear their minds and not think of anything or anyone that would appear and destroy them. But Ray had thought of the Mr. Stay Puft Marshmellow Man and Gozer reappearedthe form chosen by Ray, which Ray believed couldn't possibly destroy them, kids would toast marshmellows at camp fires and The Ghostbusters used their proton packs to zap at Mr. Stay Puft/Gozer and set Mr. Stay Puft/Gozer on fire. Ray's remark to Louis in the movie is "You have been a participant in the biggest interdimensional cross rip since the Tunguska blast of 1909!" First, the writers got the year wrong; the event occurred on June 30th, 1908. Ray's talking about a possible meteor strike in southern Central Russia that had a huge blast area. More info can be read here. After climbing up the 22 flights to the penthouse and going out on the roof, the Ghostbusters find that Dana (Sigourney Weaver) and Louis (Rick Moranis) have been transformed into Zuul and Vinz Clortho, two huge demonic dogs guarding Gozer's gateway. Slowly, Gozer comes sauntering through the gate. Ray orders her to stop all supernatural activity and return to her own realm. Gozer asks him if he is a god, and Ray stupidly replies, "No," so Gozer tosses all four of them across the roof, almost knocking them off the ledge. The Ghostbusters neutralize her with their proton packs, and Gozer disappears, but her voice can be heard ordering them to choose the form she is to take in order to destroy the world. Everyone tries to clear their minds, but an image of the Stay Puft marshmallow man pops into Ray's head. In that giant form, the Traveler comes walking down the street, laying wreck to everything around her. Egon suggests that they may be able to close the gate by zapping it with their proton packs and allowing the particle streams to cross. The plan is successful, Mr Stay Puft is reduced to great gobs of melted marshmallow crème, and Dana and Louis are released from their dog bodies. In the final scenes, the Ghostbusters emerge from the building to the cheers of the crowd, Dana kisses Venkman, and they all drive off in Ecto 1. For the UK television release, approximately six scenes were shortened and swearwords removed.
